Whitening Services
If your teeth have become stained, dull, or discolored over time, teeth whitening may be a good option for you.
Healthy teeth are not immune to discoloration over time. Genetics, aging, antibiotics, and tobacco use all contribute to teeth becoming stained and discolored. Whitening treatments are a simple and effective way to brighten up your smile.
We make custom whitening trays in-house and take-home whitening kits. To make custom trays, we take an impression of your teeth in our office and have the trays made. Then, you can pick up the trays and included whitening gel at our office. Additional tubes of gel are also available for purchase. Our take-home whitening kits feature prescription-strength whitening strips and 10 trays (good for a total of 10 uses).

Natural-Looking Composite Fillings and Metal Amalgam Fillings
Harmful bacteria on teeth can lead to decay. Untreated decay may cause further complications, such as pain or infection. We gently remove decayed tissue and place your filling to help prevent further damage. This is a safe, effective solution to help preserve your teeth. We offer two types of fillings: composite resin and amalgam.
Composite resin (white) fillings are made from tooth-colored resin and fine glass particles, making them strong, durable, and aesthetic. Resin fillings are ideal for all teeth and can be more conservative in size, preserving the natural tooth structure.
We also offer silver (also called amalgam) fillings for those who prefer it. Amalgam fillings are made of a mixture of metals: silver, mercury, tin, and copper. They last longer than the composite (white) fillings and are ideal for back (molar) teeth. Although most dental offices no longer place amalgam fillings, here at McKinney Dental, we believe in providing a variety of options to our patients.

Restoring Damaged Teeth with Crowns
Over time, teeth begin to weaken. This leaves them more susceptible to problems such as decay, cracks, or discoloration. A dental crown can renew the appearance and function of a tooth. Dental crowns can:

Dental Reline Services
A dental reline is for patients who have either a denture or a removable partial denture. It is needed to reshape the inner surface of the denture or removable partial denture to improve the overall comfort and fit. Over time, the shape of the patient’s gums and jawbone changes due to natural bone resorption which causes the denture to become loose. Having a dental relined helps refit the denture without having to replace it entirely.
There are several types of dental relines:
Soft Reline
- Uses a softer, more flexible material.
- Ideal for patients with sore or sensitive gums.
- Provides more comfort but may wear out faster (typically lasts 1–2 years).
Hard Reline
- Uses a more durable acrylic material similar to the original denture base.
- Provides a longer-lasting, more precise fit.
- Typically lasts several years before needing replacement.
Temporary Reline
- A short-term solution using a medicated or soft material.
- Used when gums are inflamed or irritated to allow healing before a permanent reline or new denture.
Reline Procedure
- The dentist removes a thin layer from the inside of the denture.
- A new impression is taken using a soft material.
- The reline material is processed and added to the denture, either in-office or in a dental lab
- The adjusted denture is fitted back into the patient’s mouth.
When Is a Reline Needed?
- Dentures feel loose or uncomfortable.
- Significant weight loss affecting gum and bone structure.
A reline can extend the life of dentures, but if the fit is too compromised, a new set of dentures may be necessary.

Full and Partial Dentures
Dentures are removable replacements for one or more missing teeth. They are used to restore both function and aesthetics. Dentures are custom-fabricated to fit your mouth and match the appearance of your natural teeth. The fit of your dentures may be adjusted as needed to ensure comfort and proper function.
Complete dentures replace the full upper or lower set of teeth. Partial dentures are used to replace one or more teeth when some natural teeth remain. This prevents teeth from shifting into the space left by missing teeth.
To create a set of dentures, we take a digital scan of your mouth, have your new or replacement dentures made, and then place them in-office.
You should clean your dentures regularly using a soft bristle toothbrush and a non-abrasive cleanser. Keep your regular dental appointments as recommended. Dentures should be replaced every 5-10 years. Ask Dr. McKinney to evaluate whether your dentures should be refitted or replaced.
